In His Own Words
A little over a year and a half since I started working here and 25 pounds lighter. I can’t believe it.

I always try to talk about our company wherever I go: business events, poker games, dinner parties, poker games, family gatherings, poker games, restaurants, poker games, bars, poker games, the gym, poker games, and any other professional or social gathering. Wait, did I mention poker games? I ask people what they do and they ask about our company. They want to know why they would want to work at Next Internet. I can think of many reasons and I share these factors... (edited PG version):

  • The business model of creating and building internet companies is incredible. There is no limit on what we can do and how much we can grow.
  • The start and growth of each company has been phenomenal. It’s like witnessing the birth of a baby then watching the baby start to walk, go to school, learn to drive, go to college, find a great job, etc… If I was to talk about each company, it would take up too much space here, so you can read the blog below mine titled, “Why The NexInternet.com Site Sucks?” to get an idea of what each company does. Well, I will tell you why The NexInternet.com site and company doesn’t suck!
  • The people. The people is what makes the company after all. You can have the greatest idea in the world, but it takes the right people to turn that idea into reality. As the Staffing Manager here, it is so rewarding to find good people and fill positions because those people are going to make a difference. Each person has made a difference here and we wouldn't be where we are today if it wasn't for each member of the Next Internet family. I’ve never seen such diligent, smart, hard working people.
  • The environment, culture, and atmosphere here is second to none. It's such an honor to be working with nice, caring, and friendly folks who love their company and their job. If you walk in to our office(s), you will see what I mean.
  • Our motto/philosophy: WORK HARD AND PLAY HARD. We just ask that you come here and do a good job, and have fun.

Let’s see….for you recent college graduates. You just graduated and you need a job but you don’t know which company to choose. You should ask yourself this: do I want to work for a company where I just want to put in my eight hours and get the hell out of there? Do I want to work at a place where I am just a small fish in a big pond with piranhas (a.k.a. executives) in their suits and nose up in the air, and will only talk to you if you are manager level and above? Or, an environment where not only your peers treat you like a friend, but even the whole upper management?

When I see the executives here come in to work in their jeans and T-shirts and talk and joke around with all the employees like they would with their own friends, the scene is just awesome.

A typical scene is when a bunch of us go eat at a restaurant, or go drinking, play poker, or just hang out somewhere. For those who do not or cannot join those events, they can socialize every Friday when we have free lunch. We serve steak and lobster most of the time. OK, I’m just kidding about steak and lobster, but the food is just as good. We have so much food and drinks here. No wonder I gained so much weight! Speaking of Friday lunch and gaining weight. I can't believe I ate a stick of butter with a pancake wrapped around it for $200. I don't advise anyone to do that. Some of the people here dared me to do it and the pot went up to $200 and so I took the challenge in front of the whole company. We all had a good laugh.

By the way, if you can eat 12 pieces of the 911 chicken from Cluck-U Chicken, in under 10 minutes, come on over! Shoot, I just gave Cluck-U Chicken a free advertisement here. I better call them and charge them.

Oh, and if you can do a beer (keg) stand, beer pong, etc…you’re hired! Well actually, be prepared to face one of those challenges during an interview. Ha ha ha! Just joking. These are some examples of activities we do to maintain and boost the company/employee morale. It’s all just for fun and for people to laugh and have a good time here. Laughter is the best medicine.

I laugh just about every day when I see employees in our little game/conference room enjoying the entertainment our company provided us with: the Wii, Xbox, PS3, a DVD player, and some other toys I don't even know what they're called. They play during lunch, before and after work, or any time they need to take a break from working so hard.

The bottom line is, our company is incomparable and uncanny. We are growing tremendously, making money, and having a lot of fun. What more can you ask for? To be continued…
